It's time for the FM flagship, Flipa. This is, as you might guess, an IPA, one with an abundance of hops, although it's generally not a harsh or excessively bitter tasting ale. It might be a bit bright for some, having all that tropical essence, but it's a great bookend. Appetite opening to start and perks you up to home. This batch is more herbal in aroma than I remember, but the golden color and fluffy white head are just right. There's almost a touch of honey in the first sip, quickly brought down by some ale bitter. Fruitiness explodes, giving glimpses of melon, mango and grapefruit. It's not an especially citrusy IPA, I have to pay close attention to get any hint of it. And that's more of a heavy grapefruit than a snappy orange. While it was never a garden beer, no room for outside seating at the brew pub, it is a welcome bit of light. It's tasty and balanced, a fine drink to savor by itself or pair with munchies. It is a 6% ale, though, so a little care should be had with quantity. Beers like this are easy to overindulge on before you know it.
